It is a misconception that simply wiping your leather with soap and water is the best way to maintain your leather pieces. Using products not designed specifically for leather cleaning even "protected" leather may break down its durable finish causing the pigment to crack or peel. Furthermore, aniline and nubuck leather are not low maintenance. These leathers are extremely porous and should be cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis to protect your investment.
